RCC ‘07, Day 1

So I hung out at RCC 2007 for most of the day today. After going to bed at 4 and waking up at 8 it took every last ounce of my willpower to get out of bed in the morning. I had quite an argument with myself before finally deciding to get the f up and go already! But I’m really glad I went!

I really didn’t know what to expect since I’d never been to anything quite like this before. It’s a very open, free-form conference, where people just kind of wander around and enjoy group discussions. Overall, it was a blast. Lots of very interesting conversation about a variety of topics, geeky and otherwise. Well, ok, all of them were geeky… some were just not necessarily computer-geeky.

But we had a heck of a discussion there and then a bunch of us decided to head out for dinner afterwards. Unfortunately, it meant I had to miss dancing for the evening (sorry Daniela!), but these are people who I wouldn’t really have many opportunities to share a dinner with so I had to go.

Had a great dinner (after a long, cold wait outside waiting for a table) and then headed out for a few drinks. After a few misadventures on the way, we finally went to the Lucky Lab for a few beers and yet more conversation. All in all, an excellent evening! Thanks to everyone who was there today and tonight, and I hope to see most of you again tomorrow!

The good news is that the OpenID login seems to work.

The bad news is that the office jukebox doesn’t seem to have “Love Shack” on it, and you’ve got it stuck in my head.

I hope you’re not insinuating the the “office jukebox” is not a digital device… that would be… sad.
